Developing Our Ritual Prayer Skills:

This year a goal for our congregation is to increase the number of individuals who can lead worship services on Shabbat and weekdays, and recite Torah and Haftarah as well as Gabbaim to help with the Torah service. There will be opportunities for group lessons on weekdays and Shabbat and one on one. John Roncz has offered to work with people interested in learning Haftarah and Rachel Bruell is willing to work with people on Torah reading. Please let Rabbi know if you would like to develop these skills!

Intermediate Judaism Class:

On Mondays starting October 22 - December 10 at 7:30 pm.

We are going beyond basics in this class and our focus will be on Jewish texts. Our study text will be Back to the Sources. The 8 topics will be: Biblical Narrative; Biblical Poetry; Talmud; Midrash; Medieval Bible Commentaries; Medieval Jewish Philosophy; Kabbalistic texts; and Teachings of the Hasidic Masters. Classes will begin on Mondays, October 22 to December 10 at 7:30 PM (8 weeks in a row). We are working on making use of distance learning software so people can also learn over the internet. Please let Rabbi Friedland know if you’re interested in joining this class.
