Adult education at Sinai comes in many different forums.

Every day at our daily minyanim, Rabbi Friedland offers short divrei Torah or divrei Tefilah (lessons on the Torah portion or prayer).

Formal classes are offered on weekday evenings by Rabbi Friedland or Rabbi Meira Chmiel, a member of our congregation.

We occasionally have opportunities to engage visiting scholars.

Lunch and Learn classes on Torah or the Bible have had long followings.

Basic Judaism classes are offered to all interested.  Many have taken these classes as a gateway to joining the Jewish people.

Shabbat learning opportunities include our bi-monthly Mussar Study group.

We even go offsite for learning Torah – Fiddler’s Hearth, a popular Irish pub, has hosted our monthly Torah on Tap program for years.

Our current Adult Education offerings are:

Mondays October 19- November 9 7:00 PM- 8:00 PM The Talmud’s Greatest Hits!
Study with Rabbi Friedland some of the most significant passages and teachings in the Talmud. Beginners welcome, the texts are in English and Hebrew.

Mondays October 12 , November 23 , February 1  Torah on Tap
Feed your spirit with Torah and spirits! Join us at Fiddler’s Hearth downtown South Bend for an hour or so of engaging Torah study.

Thursdays beginning November 12 Learn To Read Torah with Rabbi Meira
Rabbi Meira Chmiel will teach Torah trope, Ashkenazic melody, Sephardic pronunciation to all interested. We at Sinai call on a cadre of volunteer readers and need to replenish our volunteers! Come learn how to participate in the Sacred Art.

Every 1st and 3rd Shabbat during the Torah reading - Mussar study
A group gathers in our library to study Mussar (ethical) teachings of our Sages and how to interpret them for our contemporary era. They are always looking to include new members. Give it a try!
