Meditation

The Sinai Meditation Group meets on the second and fourth Shabbat of each month, except when there is a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. The group meets in the library, usually starting about 10:15, just after the taking out of the Torah. In the main sanctuary, the Torah reading continues. Rabbi Friedland encourages the meditation group to meet.

After settling into our seats, we usually begin with a guided meditation on the Heart Center, led by the group leader. This helps people get centered on the four attributes of Heart Center:  Compassion, Innate Harmony, Healing Presence, and Unconditional Love. Then each participant, quietly to him or herself, uses the Yod-Hey-Wah-Hey mantra, silently speaking the four letters of the name of God revealed to Moses at the burning bush. While silently repeating each letter of God's name, over and over, with a long inhale or exhale on each letter, the participant maintains an intention of invoking God's presence into the space where the group is meeting. The entire meditation experience usually lasts about 25 minutes.

Please join us. It is an opportunity to open your heart and connect with God in a somewhat different manner.

Thanks to Mr. Gilbert for teaching and leading this worthwhile group.
